Walter Reed National Military Medical Center Project
Get a QuoteWalter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC) is the largest military medical center in the U.S. WRNMMC cares for our nation’s most critically wounded warriors, veterans and their families. Their expansion project would result in 725,000 square feet of new construction and approximately 500,000 square feet of renovated space.
The Project
The WRNMMC project encompassed two buildings, the America Building and the Arrowhead Building, as well as two parking structures. The America Building is the health system’s largest ambulatory building, and the Arrowhead Building houses emergency in-patient services. The goal was to renovate medical departments and complete new construction to combine the two hospitals within a 30-month timeframe.
Interstate Logistics was chosen to provide its expertise to this landmark project, encompassing logistical support to the initial outfitting and transition of items to the newly-constructed facilities at WRNMMC.
The Execution
Interstate’s expertise in healthcare and government logistics proved crucial for our role in logistical support and asset management for 1.8 million square feet of items. We managed 345 inpatient beds, 50 ICU beds, 60 clinics, 20 operating rooms and a pharmacy. A team of 97 full-time, on-site Interstate professionals supported this project.
- Management, assembly and installation of over 140,000 assets valued at $120 million.
- Provided 50,000 square feet of climate-controlled warehousing space with real-time asset visibility 24/7.
- Coordinated decommissioning and distribution of assets.
