SPRINGFIELD, VA, January 29, 2016 – Interstate Van Lines, Inc. one of the largest independent moving companies in the country announced today that it has been honored with AMSA’s annual Fleet Safety Award in the under five million miles category. This marks the seventh year in a row that Interstate has received this prestigious award.

Since 1997, Interstate has either received first place or runner up, which is a testament to the organization’s dedication to keeping everyone safe—on and off the road. Interstate offers aggressive incentive programs to drivers who achieve high safety scores. Additionally, Interstate has rigorous standards when it comes to remaining compliant with the regulations set forth by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. Interstate demonstrated its industry leading safety standards by adopting the implementation of Electronic Logging Devices (ELDs) well in advance of the 2017 federal requirement. ELDs synchronize with a vehicle’s engine to automatically record driving time, for easier, more accurate hours of service (HOS) recording.

AMSA, which is the American authority on moving, chooses its winners based upon annual miles traveled and the best weighted combination of the lowest U.S. Department of Transportation recordable accident rate per million miles of vehicle operation, and the lowest vehicle and driver out-of-service rate.

Interstate will accept its award at AMSA’s 97th Annual Education Conference & Expo in New Orleans, March 20-23, 2016.
