General Dynamics Information Technology - Medical

Project Name: Walter Reed Project

Project Length: 2002 - Present

General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) is the primary contractor for the initial outfitting and transition support of the newly renovated Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. General Dynamics will oversee the hospital transition planning and move operations into the new facility. GDIT's role is to plan, prepare and install new medical and non-medical equipment, information technology equipment and furniture. GDIT is also responsible for the relocation of all existing equipment.

As a primary team member for GDIT, Interstate has been tasked to lead the logistics and relocation of these assets for the Walter Reed Project. Currently, Interstate oversees move planning between Bethesda, MD and Fort Belvoir, VA.

Within this $6 million contract, Interstate has included a provision of IT support for the facilities during the move transition. This program includes the receipt, storage, asset control, and delivery of all IT related equipment to the new facility. A dedicated on-site installation team will perform designated “low technology” equipment installations. Interstate has dedicated 50,000 square feet of warehousing to support the receipt, storage, asset control, unpacking, and staging of equipment prior to delivery.

Interstate continues to be challenged with a stringent deadline for project completion with construction delays, yet has been able to maintain the original time frame with on-time task completion.
